NEWS RELEASE
Contact: Candice Gwin, 314-821-5770, ext 11

The Turkey Day Game, LLC has been formed to research and publish the colorful history of the celebrated football rivalry that has divided and united the communities of Kirkwood and Webster Groves for over a century.

This centennial year the two teams will battle again in the series that started in 1907.

The principals in the LLC are Mr. Michael C. Kearney, President of the Kirkwood Historical Society and Mr. Charles Schneider of Webster Groves. They are committed to publishing a classy full color history of the Turkey Day games and to donate the proceeds after taxes to the two schools.

The principal author is Mr. Shawn Greene who has been researching the games and collecting photos of all the teams that exist. He has discovered the story behind the Webster colors of Black & Orange as well as the first Kirkwood colors; Red and BLUE! Each decade will be introduced with anecdotes that highlight the coaches, teams, players and the nature of the game as it has evolved over the years.

Shawn continues to collect stories of players, coaches, the Frisco Bell and school pranks. This history continues to build as the book is being prepared.

Mr. Brad Baraks, President of G. Bradley Publishing, Inc., is the same publisher that brought the wonderful "Pictorial History of Kirkwood" to life. The Turkey Day Game Centennial book is modeled after that successful history. However, this book will be in full color and a minimum of 175 pages.

The book will be hard cover and shaped like a high school yearbook. The dust jacket art was produced and contributed by Ms. Marilynne Bradley, the renowned Webster Groves artist. Ms. Bradley will offer numbered prints of her cover art at various venues this fall. The original water color painting will be framed and auctioned off at the adult Friendship Dance on November 17th.

Marketing the book in both communities are Ms. Candice Gwin and Mrs. Erin Schafers. By ordering the Turkey Day Game Centennial book by October 1st, you will receive a numbered, signed and sealed collector's edition of this dynamic history. The numbering will be in order of receipt of $45 per copy (add $5 for shipping and handling) with order information. Mail your check or money order to: Turkey Day Game, LLC, P.O. Box 411811, St. Louis Mo. 63131 or order online at www.turkeydaygame.org. Visit our web site for more information and a listing of events. Call 314-961-3444 for more information.

These beautiful color history books will arrive on the first of November just in time for holiday gifts.
