Marilynne Bradley Donates Art for Turkey Day Game Centennial Book ![]() Webster Groves native and prominent artist, Marilynne Bradley, has donated the cover art for the Turkey Day Game Centennial book that is due out the beginning of November 2007. The scene she has chosen shows both teams engaged in battle with a Webster player closing in for a tackle on the Kirkwood running back. Marilynne will be selling prints of this scene with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. The original will be framed and auctioned off at the adult Friendship Dance on Saturday, November 17th. The proceeds from this generous gift will be split between the two Historical Societies, who are sponsoring the dinner-dance. ![]() Marilynne Bradley has been acknowledged in "Who's Who in American Women Artists," "World's Who's Who of Women," and Who's Who in the World." She is a signature artist member in the Watercolor Society of Alabama, Southern Watercolor Society, Transparent WC Society, Georgia WC Society, Kansas WC Society, Kentucky WC Society and a distinguished member of the St. Louis Artists' Guild. Her work is recognized in museum exhibitions, accepted in major national juried competitions and included in many major corporate collections in the United States, France, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Korea, Australia, Tahiti and China. She has had over 150 one person exhibits and received over 50 awards. She recently won a 2nd prize in Aqueous USA 2006. She led a group of plein aire painters on the entire trail of the Katy Trail. With portfolio of paint and paper on the back of her back she produced over 100 paintings of the trail. ![]() Marilynne received her BFA from Washington University, an MAT from Webster University and her MFA from Syracuse University. She is a member of the faculty of Webster University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. In the past she has instructed classes and workshops at the Kansas City Art Institute, St. Louis University, William Woods University, Columbia College, Washington University and many national watercolor societies. Besides presenting lectures and demonstrations, she is in demand for jurying exhibits. She will be a Fine Arts judge in the Missouri State Fair. Marilynne has produced four educational videos for the classroom; "Watercolor Techniques," "Line, Shape, Value," "Aboriginal Art, Past, Present and Future," and "the Molas of Panama." During her teaching days at Webster Groves High School, she was a reader for the Advanced Placement in Art History at Princeton University. History plays another important part in her life. She has written and illustrated many books dealing with Missouri, St. Louis and Webster Groves history. She is currently the keeper of the files of 100 year old homes in Webster Groves. Marilynne's interest in travel is reflected in her paintings. She is out of the country at least three times a year. Her latest cruising was on the Black Sea and the Canals of Holland. The ship, the "Yorktown" is filled with 28 of her paintings. This year many of her watercolors from these travels have been accepted in national exhibits.
